Richard Broadnax was born in 1948 in Arkansas, USA. God, church and Gospel were the foundation and motivation of his large family's life. Richard was just 8 years old when he sang his first solo in Church and was greeted with wonderful applause and a standing ovation. In the early 1970's Richard went to Germany where he joined the Frankfurt Gospel Choir performing for the military community all throughout Western Europe. In 1990 Richard met Robert D. Jackson and toured 6 years with the Jackson Gospel Singers. He was cast in 1995 in Alain Corneau's film "Le Nouveau Monde". The soundtrack of the film features Richard's composition "Meet Me in Zion". In 1997 Richard formed the Zion Gospel Singers. They appeared at the Montreux Jazz Festival and the Karlovy Vary Jazz Festival in the Czech Republic in 1999 and in the Blue Balls Festival in Lucern in 2000. Richard Broadnax & The Zion Gospel Singers were seen on numerous TV shows in Germany and Switherland and have sang with many music stars such as Joe Cocker and Phil Collins among others.
